Congress, BJP spar over farm bills

nThe Chhattisgarh Committee on Saturday said farmers were being misled by Modi government while the BJP accused the Congress of spreading rumours on the farm bills enacted by the Union government.

Both the parties on Saturday organised parallel virtual farmers’ rallies across the state.

Addressing the ‘Kisan Mazdoor Bachao Sammelan’, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said farmers are being misled by the central government through its slogan of 'One Nation One Market'.

“On behalf of farmers across the country, I added a line into that slogan and demanded “Modi government to announce ‘one nation one market one rate’. Farmers across the country will stop protesting against the farm laws,” he said.

Baghel added that the Centre is mum over the one rate and procurement of farm produce at the minimum support price.

The PCC released a booklet on the three farm bills at the Congress Bhavan in Raipur.

BJP state President Vishnudeo Sai told the ‘Virtual Kisan Rally’ that Congress had failed to create confusion and spread rumours across the country against the Central Agriculture Laws.

The farmers’ have understood the intention of the Congress. It is the reason no farmer could be seen in the Congress-led march in the state and demonstration, leading to a virtual farmers’ rally.

The state government fears the central laws as the payment to farmers has to be done within 72 hours of procurement of farm produce. The Congress now cannot release the payments in instalments.
