Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Mohan Markam has urged Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to restore the old pension scheme.
The state government employees have been raising the demand as they do not want the present national pension scheme which is contributory in nature, he said.
Markam pointed out in a letter that the state government employees and officials have been for the old pension scheme for a long time.
The Congress had included it in its election manifesto. The contributory pension scheme started in 2004 provides little benefits to the retired employees, he said.
He said the Congress governments in Rajasthan and Jharkhand have already announced that they will return to the old pension scheme.
