The Congress party has urged the farmers not to sell their paddy crops in the grain markets across the State on December 1 as a medium to register their protest against what it called ‘anti-farmer policy’ of the Chhattisgarh Government.
Notably, the State Government has announced to start its paddy procurement exercise through cooperative committees in the grain markets from December 1.
Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) president, Bhupesh Baghel and ClP leader, TS Singhdeo, in a joint Press release issued here on Monday, alleged that the State Government has been making excuses to not to buy paddy from the farmers.
“The State Government has laid new guidelines of farmers’ registration process for paddy procurement and has deprived about 45 per cent farmers from being registered while its decisions including that of limiting paddy procurement to 10 quintal per acre have incurred about `300 to `400 per quintal loss to farmers on sale of paddy,” they alleged.
Meanwhile, the Congress’ ‘Mahtari Nyay Yatra’, on the third day of its six day protest-march, completed 20 km journey to reach Damakheda Timari from its previous stay in Baitulpur.
Baghel and Singhdeo were among the senior party leaders participated in the march. They also addressed a public meeting held in Kirwai village on concluding the march for the day.
