The Congress has decided to revive the Parivartan Yatra from Keshlur itself to fulfil the desire of its slain leaders and as per schedule the yatra will end in Raipur in which Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi will be invited, informed All India Congress Committee general secretary and Chhattisgarh in-charge BK Hariprasad.
Notably, in the presence of Hariprasad, AICC treasurer Motilal Vora and Union Minister Charandas Mahant, a meeting of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee was held at Congress Bhawan on Sunday afternoon. In the
meeting, tributes were paid to martyrs of Darbha Maoist attack and it also discussed Parivartan Yatra which was postponed indefinitely after the incident.
After the meeting, Hariprasad and Vora informed the mediapersons that meetings will be organised at all district headquarters on June 6 and at all block headquarters on June 7 to pay tributes to martyrs killed in the Maoist attack in Darbha Valley on May 25. They also said that to fulfil the unfinished task of martyr leaders, the Parivartan Yatra would resume its onward journey again from Keshlur where the Congress convoy was heading for on the fateful day, May 25, before it was attacked by Maoists.
To a question related to Maoist attack on Congress leaders, Hariprasad said since the probes are underway saying anything about the issue on this juncture would not be appropriate. When his attention was drawn to conspiracy allegations levelled by BJP leaders, Hariprasad tersely said the Congress would not stoop to such low levels.
On the question of appointment of Congress State president, he said that no decision has been taken on this issue and only Congress president Sonia Gandhi will decide it. Hariprasad reportedly has asked party leaders to avoid giving any statement on the issue of Maoist attack on the Congress convoy.
leader of Opposition Ravindra Choubey, party State vice president TS Singhdeo, Pradeep Choubey, former Minister Bhupesh Baghel and others were present at the meeting.
