To protest against adverse impact of demonetisation on common people, Chhattisgarh Mahila Congress will hold protest under the themeline ‘Garib Ki Jeb Khali, Bajao Thali,’ on January 9 across the state, said AICC member Mohammad Akbar while interacting with newsmen at Congress Bhawan on Saturday.

Claiming Collectorate gherao was successful campaign over demonetisation this week, Akbar said that the campaign gained tremendous success all over the state despite state government deployed several police personnel to puncture the Congress-led protest.

Akbar stated that central government had claimed to recover black money worth crores of rupees through demonetization of old currency notes of`500 and Rs 1000 but the claim could not met. The adverse impact of demonetization is still affecting the citizens across the country, he informed.

During the press conference, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) President Bhupesh Baghel sought compensation for those who allegedly died in process of exchanging old currency notes during demonetization period while in bank queues.

Baghel alleged that farmers are compelled to distribute their several tonnes of vegetables free of cost whereas labourers are wandering in search of daily wage job due to lack of enough cash money.
