Opposition Congress party has announced on Saturday it would stage ‘dharna’ across all blocks and district headquarters on June 15 against the alleged anti-farmer policies adopted by Chhattisgarh’s ruling BJP Government.
Congress spokesperson and Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said his party members would also handover a memorandum with 13 points demand to the Governor.
Trivedi said the demands included ensuring easy availability of seed and fertilizers to farmers before the Kharif season along with several others. Increasing the minimum support price of paddy to Rs2,100 per quintal with the bonus of Rs300 had also been included in the list, he said.
likewise, extending financial assistance to farmers as part of crop insurance and drought relief; waving off the agricultural loans and relaxing the rate of interest on agricultural loans are also among the 13 points demand, he added.
Further, investigation of corruption happening in construction of toilets under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan; payment of pending wages of MNREGA along with sanctioning of new works under the same scheme; issuing patta to beneficiaries under forest rights act; rolling back the hike in power tariff, are among other points that will be raised, he said.
