The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Party (CGPCC) has commenced preparations for the civic body polls scheduled in the State during November-December this year.

The Congress after facing huge defeat in recently held Assembly and parliamentary polls is taking the upcoming polls as an opportunity to make a strong comeback in the State.

In the series of ongoing preparations for the civic body polls, the Raipur District Congress Committee on Tuesday held a meeting of the committee’s members, block presidents, ward presidents and corporators at Congress Bhawan here.

The party leaders and office-bearers provided vital suggestions regarding candidate selection besides preparing strategies to win the upcoming polls, a party press release issued here stated.

It was decided that the Congress will launch a ‘padyatra’ in all 70 wards from ‘Navratri’ festival and will seek public’s suggestions to prepare their poll manifesto.

This apart, the party will launch a membership drive and will also help locals to enlist their names in the voter list, if any.

MlA and senior party leader Satyanarayan Sharma, former MlA Kuldeep Juneja, Raipur Mayor Dr Kiranmayee Nayak  and Congress corporators were among prominent people who attended the meeting.
