BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday said the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the reservation system in jobs will continue till the BJP-led Government is in power at the Centre and urged people to be wary about Congress efforts to Rs spread lies’.
Addressing a massive public rally at Ambikapur, headquarters of tribal stronghold vast Surguja region, Shah remarked, “in the coming up days, the Congress will spread different types of lies to mislead people. Sometimes they will say the SC/ST Act is being abolished, on other occasions, they will say the reservation (system) was being scrapped. I want to clearly say that the SC/ST Act and reservation will remain in force till the BJP Government is in power.”
Sounding a poll bugle in Chhattisgarh where the BJP is in power for roughly 15 years, the BJP chief made hard hitting comments on Congress’ track record of governance at the Centre.
He claimed that the BJP would register fourth successive victory in the mineral rich state. Shah also participated in a roadshow with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh.
Chhattisgarh goes to polls later this year and Shah says that the BJP would win at least 65 out of the total 90 seats in the State. Raman Singh and several State-level frontline leaders of the saffron party were present on the dais when Shah announced at Ambikapur’s Government PG College ground that Congress would suffer crushing defeat again in State in this year’s assembly polls.
Slamming Congress president Rahul Gandhi over his party’s performance in 55 years, Shah questioned him for seeking an account of the work done by the BJP-led government in the last four years.
“Rahul baba, why are you asking for our account of four years. We do not need to give you any account. We will give an account of every minute and every paisa to the people when we go to them to ask for votes,” Shah stated at the rally amid huge cheers by local tribal people.
Stating that the country lagged in development for 55 years under the Congress’ rule, the BJP chief asked, “Your (Rahul Gandhi) family governed the country for four generations and 55 years. Why has there not been any developmentIJ”
Shah also said that Gandhi must look within before seeking an account of the work done by the BJP. “With the onset of summer, they rush to Europe and Italy for vacations. When Rahul baba comes here to ask for votes, will you not ask him about the dismal record of his partyIJ” Shah observed.
