Cong slams Modi for praising Raman

The Opposition Congress party criticised Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for heaping praise on Chief Minister Raman Singh during his whirlwind trip to Chhattisgarh on Thursday.

State Congress chief and Union Minister Charan Das Mahant said by praising the State Chief Minister, Modi rubbed salt on peoples’ wound.

Addressing an election rally in Kanker, Modi reportedly praised Raman Singh for implementing various schemes and reservation for girls in the State.

Mahant said the BJP Government paid no heed when minor tribal girls of aged between 6-13 years studying in the State-run Jhaliamari Kanya Ashram in Kanker area were sexually abused.

It was unfortunate that Narendra Modi praised the CM in the same Kanker area. By doing that Modi, who has earned bad reputation for Godhra riots, once again showed his insensitiveness towards the tribal and people of Kanker, he said.

Modi who was well-known for speaking lie should have enquired about the status of girls and women in Chhattsgarh before making such statement, he said.

Mahant also alleged that more than 17,000 women were missing in Chhattisgarh and the Government never showed any interest to know about their whereabouts. He also cited the example how a four year girl who belonged to the constituency of the Chief Minister was abused sexually and had to undergo eight hours of treatment at the Raipur Medical College and Hospital. Mahant also said more than 22,000 children have been missing in the State and the Government has not been taking any steps to find them out.
