Congress has questioned Chhattisgarh Government on Saturday about its decision to end the eligibility of Above Poverty line (APl) families of receiving rations besides reducing ration quota of BPl families. Former Minister Mohammed Akbar termed the decision as “violation of constitution as the State Government had passed Chhattisgarh Food Security Act 2012 to ensure eligibility of beneficiaries,’’.
He also wrote to Governor Balramji Das Tandon in this regard and sought his intervention in the matter. Akbar said that Chhattisgarh Food Security Act 2012 ensured 35 kilograms of ration to Antyodaya families while APl families were eligible for 15 kgs per month. Akbar termed it an affront that State Government is backing off from its own commitment of Chhattisgarh Food Security Act.
