Cong probable candidates exempted for 'No Dues' from CGPCC

After disorder at the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee office as there was chaos of candidates seeking party ticket for taking no dues certificate, the party Steering Committee for Election had now exempted the condition. It has now said the candidates can now file their application at their respective Block Congress Committee Office without the certificate.

Citing Manmohan Committee recommendations made 20 years before, the CGPCC had earlier said it was a natural democratic process of party, whoever wants to become a party candidate, he has to deposit his annual party membership fees. CGPCC had earlier made it mandatory that every candidate should pass through the process as specified in the committee recommendation. They have to obtain no dues certificate before claiming to be a party candidate from any of the assembly area of the state. It is a democratic process. The committee has fixed specific fees for MlAs, MPs, former MlAs, former MPs, party office bearers to the common party worker. The person has to submit the annual subscription for the party fund. It is the only source of funds to run the party.

Meanwhile, the party had started accepting application forms from the candidates for the assembly segments from block level. It would later be screened at district-level by District Congress Committee (DCC) and then state-level at CGPCC. It would be further finalised at the higher level at All India Congress Committee.

As per new ruling now there is no need to show strength before the senior party leaders. Once submitted at block level, then forms would automatically go through the natural process after recommendations of respective offices, sources said.

Regarding exemption for taking Rs No Dues’ from CGPCC sources said party candidates were earlier had to make a queue to Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee office to take the Rs No Dues’. Keeping in view of the disorder and rush of prospective candidates from different parts of state to state capital, CGPCC office, it was decided to relax the orders and exempt the condition for the candidature. The last date for submission of application is August 7.
