Emboldened by a local court ruling on Friday which awarded six year imprisonment to five people on charges of masterminding PMT paper leak scam, the Chhattisgarh unit of the Congress on Saturday reiterated its demand for a CBI probe into the matter.
State Congress General Secretary and in-charge of Congress media wing, Shailesh Nitin Trivedi alleged that the ruling BJP had been trying to shield the accused and was also trying to destroy the evidence.
“The former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president late NandKumar Patel and former Congress legislature Party leader Ravindra Choubey had constantly raised questions over appointment of exam controller and appointments in Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (CGPEB). The court in its decision has also questioned about notmaking the exam controller and employees of CGPEB accused in case,”Trivedi maintained.
He further stated that court has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) for carrying out departmental inquiry against police officers. It proves that under pressure from high level, police had tried to shield influential persons and did only formalities in name of investigation, Trivedi alleged.
“The Court on Friday has clearly stated that the PMT question paperswere leaked from a printing press in Agra with involvement of CGPEB officers and police had not investigated this nexus. Under these circumstances Congress demands a CBI investigation into the case so that truth could be unravelled,’’ he added.
