'Cong needs to give credit to ruling BJP Govt'

State BJP Spokesperson Sachchidanand Upasane on Monday said that the Congress needs to accept the fact that the credit of forming the Food Security law goes to the ruling BJP Government in Chhattisgarh.

In a statement here, Upasane stated that the BJP Government in Chhattisgarh had been providing food grains at subsidised rates under the Chief Minister Food Assistance Programme since 2004. The Congress party which has ruled for the longest period since independence has never bothered about the people of the country, he said.

Condemning the statement issued by State Congress MlA Mohammed Akbar, Upasane questioned why the UPA Government did not make efforts to introduce the Food Security law after being in power for so many years. The Congress-led coalition Government at the Centre is still not serious about introducing Food Security law which is still stuck at the level of an ‘Ordinance’, he said. Upasane said that the Prime Minister and Congress MPs lack the will to introduce the Food Security law.
