The Opposition Congress in Chhattisgarh on Thursday ridiculed the exit poll projections and reiterated that it would win maximum number of Assembly seats to form the Government of its own in the mineral-rich State.
Describing the exit poll results as ‘unscientific and fictitious’, party spokesman in Chhattisgarh Sushil Anand Shukla said the thought that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would repeat its performance for the third term would be demolished on December 8 when results would be announced for the 90-member State Assembly.
“let the BJP celebrates for two days on false hope, but it would soon realise that people have not voted in favour of it. There was a wave against the BJP Government and people have voted against its corruption and misrule’’ Shukla was quoted in a Press statement.
In all the area of Chhattisgarh such as Bastar, Sarguja, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Raipur, and Durg, the Congress would take a lead. The exit poll results were nothing but the concocted opinion of some vested interest people, he said.
At one point the exit poll results were saying that the BJP would get more percentage of votes but number of seats would be on decline, how this could be possibleIJ he asked.
The results were also saying the vote percentage for the Congress would be decreased where as they say it would be able to retain the number of seats it secured in the last election, what was the basis of such findings, he said.
Shukla said similar exit poll results in respect of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka had been proved wrong in the past.
