Congress legislative Party (ClP) leader, TS Singhdeo accused Raman Singh of reducing days of the Chhattisgarh Assembly's Monsoon Session.
“The monsoon session of Chhattisgarh Assembly in 2009 was of 10 days which was reduced to 7 days in 2010 and 2011, each. While the session for 2012 was of 6 days, the same period reduced to 5 days in 2013 and 2014” claimed Singhdeo.
He further expressed likelihood of decreasing the days of monsoon session in coming years. “The Assembly session is the only platform where the elected members 90 in number, put different problems of their respective constituencies for discussion and also give suggestions to solve the same. If the members would not get fair and enough chance to put their grievances in the supreme ‘Panchayat’ of the State, then purpose of holding the session would only restrict for clearing the bills and budget presented by the government” explained Singhdeo.
Giving reference of Article 174 (1) in the Indian Constitution in his letter to the Chief Minister, Singhdeo claimed that the Government must hold discussions with the opposition parties before deciding tenure of the monsoon session as it would not only develop a cordial relationship between them but also help the Opposition to raise the general issues in the Assembly. Singhdeo also wrote a letter to the Acting Governor, Ram Naresh Yadav seeking his intervention in the matter to extend the monsoon session from 5 days to 8-10 days.
