For past five years, Congress party had made Raipur city a political ring and the last Mayor who belonged to the Congress, failed to contribute to development for the city, charged Sachchidanand Upasne, the BJP’s candidate for Mayor for Raipur.
“last Mayor Kiranmayee Nayak from Congress party had failed to maintain sanitation in the city that had resulted in spreading of serious disease like malaria and jaundice leading to death of several people,” Upasne told The Pioneer. To a query about allegations leveled by Congress party over irregularities in ration card, Upanse said that people are not taking it as an issue.
Upasne said that people of Raipur had given chance to Congress party with lot of hopes and expectations, however, Congress failed to live up to expectations and major part of its tenure was marred by controversies. He claimed that if given chance he would initiate steps to make Raipur a smart city within 90 days of assuming the office.
