The Opposition Congress on Wednesday slammed the ruling BJP Government in the State for issuing new guidelines on ration card verification.
The party’s State Media Department chief Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said in a statement here that the new directive has exposed the Government’s administrative unpreparedness and hollowness of its verification policy,he said. The Government issued ration cards to the people ahead of the election to get political mileage.
Now, in the name of verification, it is harassing the poor people and the downtrodden, he alleged.By announcing new dates for ration card verification, the Government has proved that it has not prepared well to carry out the work, Trivedi said.Opposing the Government decision to reject the ration card issued to single man and woman, he said, adding, that it will hit large number of destitutes and widows who don't have any other person in their
family. He said that the Congress party have been keeping a close watch on the verification in the district, block, urban bodies, and Panchayats.It has been found that the BJP Government has been rejecting the ration card of poor and genuine people.The Congress is getting ready to stop the BJP Government from depriving the poor the necessary benefits, Trivedi added.
State Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday participated in an agitation the party has launched in Nawapara, Rajim, and Dhamtari against ration card verification, power tariff hike, and on other issues.
