Opposition BJP alleged on Monday that the ruling Congress in the state has failed to live up to its pre-poll promise of providing monthly allowance to unemployed youth across the state.
Rs Rs Though Congress government has delivered its promises of waiving of farmers bank loans and raising minimum support price for paddy but it failed to keep up its promises made to unemployed youth,’’ Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokersperson Shivratan Sharma in a statement.
The BJP legislator Sharma further said, “Unemployed youth were promised of allowance per month but the state government has completely ditched youth.’’
“The promises made by the Congress are yet to be translated into action, in past too Congress governments made many assurances to poor people including poverty alleviation and all these assurances remained only as slogans. The plight of farmers of Karnataka under Congress government can be gauged as banks are filing criminal cases against them for loan default,” the BJP leader said.
Meanwhile BJP state spokesperson Sandeep Sharma claimed that after Modi’s budget announcement of ‘Kisan Samman Nidhi’ (Farmers’ Pension) scheme, the Congress is unable to digest it and is spreading canards.
He said, “As per Swaminathan Commission, the paddy MSP should have been Rs 2200 per quintal but state government has hiked it to Rs 2500 per quintal, with bonus amount. If government is claiming to provide Rs 2500 per quintal MSP then farmers should have actually got Rs 2800 per quintal as MSP. So, how the promise has been fulfilled.”
