Cong dares Raman to seek CBI probe

Published on:

The Opposition Congress party on Tuesday dared Chief Minister Raman Singh to seek a Central Bureau of Investigation  probe into the alleged textbook scam which surfaced recently, if it wants to come out clean. State Congress president and Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Dr Charandas Mahant said the BJP Government in the State has been involved in large scale corruptions and scams.

In the last ten years, the Government only encouraged corruptions and scams more than the developmental works it claimed to have taken up. Even it did not spare poor peasants and sectors like health and education, Mahant said.

Targeting the Raman Government over the alleged text book scam, he said the chief secretary wanted a CBI probe in to the irregularities in such purchases; the Government on the other hand was attempting to cover up the matter 'the way it had done in the past'.

Accusing the Government of encouraging land mafias, he said no actions are being taken in such cases despite sufficient evidences against them. “This has encouraged such mafias.” He also alleged that the ministers of the Government and their near and dears have accumulated huge wealth in the last ten years and there was a need for a through probe. The Government should seek a CBI probe into all the cases of corruptions and scams which erupted during the BJP rule, he said.
