Cong creates ruckus over teacher outsourcing issue

Published on:

Accusing the ruling party of snatching employment opportunity from local youths, Congress members on Wednesday created pandemonium in Chhattisgarh Assembly over the issue of outsourcing of teachers in Government schools.

Raising the issue immediately after Question Hour, Congress member Amit Jogi said it’s a matter of great concern that the Government is overlooking the interest of qualified and unemployed youths in the State by taking the decision of outsourcing teachers and demanded discussion through Adjournment Motion on the issue.

The adjournment notice on the issue has been rejected, said Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal, following which Congress members started shouting slogans and the Speaker adjourned the House for five minutes.

As the House resumed again, Congress members again raised the issue by terming outsourcing as some sort of conspiracy of the ruling BJP Government. Meanwhile, the Opposition members also charged the ruling party of escaping from the discussion on the  issue which is linked with the future of local youths, they stated.

The Speaker while rejecting the demand of the Opposition, stated that the issue has already been discussed in the ongoing session and cannot be discussed again.

The Congress members then again created noisy scene, to which the Speaker again adjourned the House for five minutes.

Raising the issue again when the House resumed, Congress member Satyanarayan Sharma said massive resentment is prevailing among youths due to the decision of outsourcing and requested the Speaker to allow discussion on the admissibility of the Adjournment Motion.

Responding to the request of senior Congress members, the Speaker allowed Congress member Amit Jogi to put forth his statement in the House.

Amid repeated interruption from members of ruling party, Jogi said that according to the State Government, outsourcing is the only option left for filling vacant posts of teachers in Government schools operational in remote and insurgency-hit areas as response was not received after repeated advertisement for teaching posts.

Since, the advertisements were published in newspapers from other States, it won’t be possible for the local youths to know about the advertisement inviting application for teaching posts, he said.

later, Jogi and other Congress members stormed towards the well of the House with a document carrying information about unemployed youths, prompting the Speaker to ask them to get back to their seats.

Acting on the directives of the Speaker, the Opposition members went back to their seats.

Reacting to the act of Opposition members , ministers Brijmohan Agrawal and Ajay Chandrakar said that Congress members who entered the well of the House shouting slogans, automatically stand suspended. The duo also asked the Speaker to take necessary action against Congress members as per the rule.

Defending members who entered the well of the House, senior Congress members said the intention was not to enter the well of the House but they were just trying to keep documents on the table of Principal Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Assembly.

Rejecting the demand of BJP members,  the Speaker said the act of Congress members has already been condemned and no further action will be taken.
