The Congress party’s decision of fielding Kamleshwar Verma from Rajnandgaon lok Sabha seat is being openly protested by the party’s workers. The question is being raised by the party’s workers that how Verma has been made a candidate when he is not even having the primary membership of the party.
However, when contacted, Verma said that he has the primary membership of the party.Earlier, the Rajnandgaon District President of the party Vinod Goswami, had failed to provide an answer to the questions of the party workers.
However, he had also claimed that Verma is a primary member of the party. According to the party workers, in 2003, Verma had contested polls from Khairagarh Assembly constituency, as an Independent candidate with ‘Glass’ symbol against the official candidate of the Congress party Devvrat Singh.
As such, on what basis rebel leader Verma has been made lok Sabha candidate, they asked. They said that in the 2010 District Panchayat election also Kamleshwar had voted against the party candidate.
In collusion with the BJP, he has been made Chairman of Agriculture and Forest Committee. Besides, his internal relation with the BJP, is a matter of discussion among the party cadres.
District President Goswami said in this regard said that Verma is a primary member of the party. He termed all the party workers allegations as baseless. It has been said that ex-MP Devvrat Singh is also disappointed with the decision of the party high command. Though he is not protesting openly, but internally he is against the decision of the party.
On the other hand, the political opponent of ex-MP Singh, AICC member Dr Aftab Alam by expressing his unhappiness over the candidature of Kamleshwar, made the central leaders aware of his discontent.
