Congress candidate from Bindranawagarh assembly segment, Sanjay Netam has urged the District Electoral Officer and District Collector Gariaband to permit him to install a jammer and construct a concrete wall to protect Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the strong room of his assembly segment at his cost.
In an application, the Congress candidate urged that the expenditure on installation of jammer and construction of concrete wall would be borne by him.
Notably, directive has been issued to all the Congress candidates by All India Congress Committee to safeguard the strong rooms where EVMs are stored.
They have also been instructed to even stay put round-the- clock near the premises where strong rooms have been built in order to deter possible EVM tampering and hacking.
“In a bid to protect the strong room I want to close the entrance gate completely with a concrete wall”, he said in the application. Apart from it, I also want to install a jammer in the strong room where EVMs are stored. The expenditure for the work would be borne by me,” Netam said.
