Hundreds of Congress members across Chhattisgarh were arrested on Monday during the statewide ‘jail bharo andolan’ organised to protest custodial killing of a Dalit youth Satish Nogre in Janjgir Champa recently.
Congress claimed that up to 50,000 of its cadres were arrested across 27 districts but they were released in evening period.
“In all 3,100 Congress workers along with Chhattisgarh Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel and Raipur city Congress President Vikas Upadhyay were arrested in Raipur itself,” informed Gyanesh Sharma, Chairman State Congress media cell.
