Cong, BJP nominees claim victory in Durg

A total of four people on Monday filed nominations on Monday for the Durg lok Sabha seat in Chhattisgarh, official said. The first who filed the nominations was Congress’s Tamradhwaj Sahu followed by others including member of outgoing lok Sabha and president of the Bharatiya Janata party national woman wing Saroj Pandey, Independent  Chandraprakash Mandela and Mannulal Pardhania of Chhattisgarh Vikash Manch.

Although the selling of nomination forms started from Saturday, on that day no one had filed nomination.  Considering Monday, the first day of the Navratri festival, as auspicious day, the candidates had reached the premises of the office of the collector at the morning itself. Although they were accompanied by hundreds of their supporters only four supporters were allowed to enter inside as proposers with each candidate.

After filing his nominations, Congress’s Tamradhwaj Sahu said he had the blessings of people always and he is confident that they will continue to bless him. Durg seat goes to polls on April 24. Congratulating people on the occasion of Navratri, Sahu said he will go to the people and make them aware about the development works undertaken by the central government.    He will also take up local issues.

Sahu said he will work to maintain the peace, tranquillity and brotherhood among the people. He stated that the BJP does not believe in peace and always try to keep an atmosphere of fear. On the other hand, the BJP candidate Saroj Pandey said this time a strong wave has been sweeping across the country which is likely to take the shape of a storm. She said its impact will be felt in Chhattisgarh as well.

Expressing her confidence that the BJP will win the Durg seat, Pandey said she will go to the people with the work she has done in the last five years of her tenure and with the works she plans to carry out in the next five years, if emerged victorious. Responding to question after filing of her nominations, she said the Congress is a sinking ship and realising that its people are now joining the BJP.

“Be it in Chhattisgarh or elsewhere in the country, the situation has remained the same, It is clear that the BJP is going to form the Government at the centre,” said Pandey, who was accompanied by large number of party workers and leaders at the time of filing of her papers.
