The people of the district are keen to see Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of the country, which has prompted them to support the BJP in the polls, said BJP candidate from Mahasamund lok Sabha seat, Chandulal Sahu.
Sahu is facing a tough contest against Congress candidate and former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi in Mahasamund lok Sabha constituency, where the polls were held on April 17.The three-phased polls in Chhattisgarh ended on April 24.
“During past one decade, with the Congress-led UPA rule at the Centre, Dr Manmohan Singh has turned out to be the weakest Prime Minister of the country,’’ Sahu who is also the sitting MP from Mahasamund, told newspersons here.
Replying to a query about the ten candidates with namesakes of Chandulal Sahu contested polls from the Mahasamund seat, the BJP leader Sahu said that ‘it was the ploy adopted by Jogi to confuse voters about the BJP candidate but the tactic has eventually turned out to be a flop show.’
Citing the claim of Chief Minister Raman Singh for winning all the 11 lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh, Sahu said that during the past 10 years, development has been the lone issue during polls in Chhattisgarh. “I (Chief Minister) have worked hard for the overall development of the State and I am too sure of winning all 11 lok Sabha seats,’’ he claimed.
