After recovering, patients of corona infection are getting of other diseases including Tuberculosis (TB). So, they should undergo a sputum test, Dr. Dharmendra Gahwai said on Monday.
The Chhattisgarh Tuberculosis Officer said Covid-19 has led to far-reaching consequences on those infected.
He said both TB and Covid-19 are infectious diseases that primarily damage the lungs. Symptoms such as cough, fever and shortness of breath are similar in both. However, in TB, the disease duration is long and its onset is slow.
Therefore, even after recovering from Covid, a person must undergo a sputum test, he pointed out.
Gahwai said even the mode and symptoms of infection of corona virus and TB were almost similar. It is vital to take precautions as it spreads through the air.
He said it was mandatory for patients suffering from TB to get the Covid-19 vaccine. They should also follow the Covid-19 protocol for prevention. TB patients need to take their regular medicine without fail.
One needs to keep a watch on cough lasting more than two weeks, fever in the evening, sudden loss of appetite, weight loss, persistence of fever for a long time, he said.
