The Collector in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district on Sunday suspended a Food Inspector for demanding money for issuing ration cards.
Collector Bhim Singh received a complaint against Inspector Manoj Kumar Sarathi, posted at Lailunga block, saying he refused to prepare ration cards unless he was paid money by the beneficiaries, an official press release said.
Based on an audio recording, the Collector found that Rs 20,000 was collected from 15 beneficiaries and only 10 ration cards were issued while five cards were withheld by the Food Inspector.
Sarathi sought money to issue the remaining ration cards, the release added.
Raigarh Food Inspector Anjani Kumar Rao will also be in-charge of Lailunga block until further orders, it added.
