District Collector Reena Babasaheb Kangale offered ‘Shramdan’ in cleaning of Pondibahar pond here. The cleanliness work was being undertaken under National Rural Drinking Water and Cleanliness Awareness campaign in the district.
Addressing the programme, Kangale also motivated people to protect the pond from getting dirty and polluted. Mayor Renu Agrawal, who participated the programme, said that the continuous decline in ground water level had started creating water scarcity and the ponds could proved to be a favourable alternative to solving the problem. Korba Municipal Corporation Commissioner Alok Chandravanshi was present on the occasion along with other Government officials.
