Collector Thakur Ram Singh on Saturday conducted a surprise inspection of the voters’ list review work going on at the tehsil office and old NRDA building, where special arrangement has been made for including left out names of the voters in the list, informed in a statement here.
During the inspection, the Collector told the officers to make arrangement for adding names of voters in the list on Sunday also, and for that, applications should be collected in collectorate also. He collected information from the voters about the distribution of election photo identity cards.
The Collector sought information about the data entry of application received on March 9 last and told them to pay attention that the voters would not wander for I-card and they should get the I-card positively on the same date they have been called.
SDO SK Agrawal said that applications were being collected to add new names in the voters’ list. A separate counter with a computer operator has been set up to search that whether the name of the applicant is included in the voters’ list or not. If any voter’s name has not found in the list, then application is collected immediately to add his name in the list. While collecting applications, a receipt is given to the applicant with the date of issuance of the photo I-card and the card has been distributed to them on the same date.
He said that data entry work of the applications received on March 9 was being done. Sufficient number of employees were deployed for the work and the work is done on holidays also. As the election commission has locked the voters’ list, applications are not being collected for rectifications in the list, he added.
Applications from the voters of Raipur city rural, west and north assembly constituencies are collected in the Raipur tehsil office, whereas, that of Raipur city south are received at the Old NRDA building camp. To include their names in the voters’ list, the electorates of Abhanpur, Aarang, Dharsinva and Balodabazar assembly constituencies have to submit their applications to the tehsil office concerned. Names of new voters will be added in the list free of coast, while, for duplicate identity card, they have to deposit a fee of `25.
