District Collector Shyam Dhawade on Sunday presided over a meeting of officials of district administration and issued necessary instructions for preparations of ‘Rajim Punni Mela’ in the district.
The annual religious gathering is scheduled to be held from February 19 to March 4 this year on the confluence of Mahanadi, Pairi and Sondhur rivers.
In the meeting, Dhawade instructed the concerned officials to make necessary arrangements for preparations of a temporary helipad at the Mela site with the cooperation of officials of Public Works of neighbouring Raipur and Dhamtari districts.
He also instructed the officials of Public health Engineering (PHE) for making necessary arrangements for arranging drinking water and makeshift toilets.
Officials of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Ltd (CSPDCL) to arrange electric lines for illuminating the Mela site. The major roads and squares should also be properly illuminated, he instructed.
Dhawade also asked the local body officials of Rajim to make necessary arrangement for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation. Officials of police department were instructed to prepare a work-plan for controlling traffic during the fortnight long fair.
