Dantewada District Magistrate and Collector KC Devasenapati on Saturday held a meeting of the officials and directed them to step up efforts to ensure free and fare election in the region.
He held the meeting of the all district level officials here to review the preparation, in view of the poll schedule for the assembly election announced by the Election Commission a day earlier.
He asked the officials to withdraw the vehicles provided to people’s representatives. He also directed them to take steps to remove the flex and posters put up by the authorities at different places that highlight the achievements of the Government.
As the election code of conduct has come into effect, the officials should not allow any Government programs which can influence the voters. No people’s representative should be invited to attend any Government functions nor should be allowed to sit on the dais, he said.
Although no new work should be taken up, the ongoing Government schemes and programs should continue as usual, he added.
Senapati also directed the officials to organise second phase election related training programme as early as possible. Necessary training should be provided to the officials who would conduct the polls, on the operation of electronic voting machines, he said.
The senior officials who attended the meeting include superintendent of police Narendra Kumar Khare, additional collector SR Sahu, SDM Bijay Kujur, deputy collector Shiv Kumar Tiwari, and joint commissioner Anand Singh.
