Raipur district collector Thakur Ram Singh on Thursday conducted surprise checks in several schools and directed strong action against the teachers who were found absent.
He conducted surprise checks in Government Upper Primary School at lakholi, primary, medium and high schools as well as the Anganwadi Centre in Serikhedi village in Dharsiwa development block in the district.
During inspection, the Collector examined the entry made in the attendance registers and matched it with those present including the students and the teachers.
All the teachers in medium and high schools were found to be present.
He inspected the work carried out under the ‘Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan’ in the school premises and asked the Head Master to continue the work.
He also examined the quality of the food provided to the students under mid-day meal programme. The children told him that they are satisfied with the quality of food the school authorities are providing to them.
The Collector directed the Head Master to arrange utensils for the mid day meal and pay the remuneration to the cook in time.
Finding low enrollment of school children in primary and medium schools in lakholi, he directed the school officials to admit students by organising ‘School Admission Festival.’
He also directed the authorities to take strong action against woman teacher Barsa lawtare for her absence in the school for the past two years.
The Collector also inspected the fair price shop at Serikhadi and inquired if the people were getting rice, kerosene and other ration items in time. This ration shop is being managed by the local panchayat.
