CM Singh to discuss monsoon prospects with Collectors today

Published on:

Chief Minister Raman Singh will hold a video-conference with all the district collectors on Saturday to discuss various contingency plans to be put in place in the event of an imminent monsoon failure in Chhattisgarh.

The district collectors have already been asked to work out their own contingency plans as poor monsoon has threatened Kharif season crops while leaving farmers in the dock.

So far, Chhattisgarh has received only about 49 percent of the average rainfall during the current monsoon season.

The Chief Minister during his video conference is also expected to discuss about the Kharif season sowing status in all the 27 districts.

Additional Chief Secretary and Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) Ajay Singh has already issued directives to the district collectors to be prepared for dealing with any emergency. The State government has appealed to the farmers for delaying the sowing of paddy crop while  the Agriculture Department had been directed to offer advice to the farmers through use of radio and television to delay sowing activities.
