CM objects flights’ resumption sans SOP

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday denounced the Centre's decision to resume domestic flights from May 25 without any standard operating procedure (SOP) and said effective steps were lacking to check the spread of Covid-19.

“When there is a spike in corona positive cases in the country, if domestic flight services are resumed, it would further aggravate the spread of coronavirus infection,” Baghel said in a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

The Chief Minister asserted that the domestic flights should be made operational only with strict and effective guidelines to curb the spread of the pandemic.

He told the Minister that details of each passenger should be shared with states keeping in view the increasing number of corona cases.

He also suggested a mandatory 14-day quarantine for all passengers at a paid or state-operated facility.

He said this should be conveyed to the passenger when tickets are booked.

The Chief Minister said that resuming domestic flight services under strict and effective guidelines will help state governments to take actions to control the coronavirus infection.
