Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday told officials to speed up development work in all forest areas, saying they needed special attention.
Holding a meeting in Gariaband district, Baghel said officials have to continuously monitor the implementation of government schemes in the forest area, take feedback from beneficiaries and listen patiently to their problems.
He said forest areas have their own issues. The officials need to focus on power supply, water, education and health. They were also asked to take care of low voltage, Gauthans, road repairs, teachers in schools and repair of school buildings, bridges and culverts.
On a complaint about lack of kerosene in Deobhog block, Baghel told the officials to ensure that all public distribution shops have stock of kerosene.
He also asked officials to resolve the issue of lack of ration cards to families, build goat sheds to promote the ‘Pardhi’ community and supply water in five villages of Deobhog.
Baghel underlined the need to bring people involved in traditional businesses like blacksmith, cobbler and potter under the landless ‘nyay’ scheme.
The consent of most primitive tribes must be taken for recruitment so that the posts can be filled through merit.
Baghel called for action against illegal sale of liquor in areas close to Odisha.
