Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday felicitated the members of a Women Self Help Group who made a briefcase from cow dung.

The Chief Minister, who holds the Finance Minister portfolio, presented the budget on March 9 by carrying the budget documents in the very briefcase.

He felicitated SHG members Neelam Agrawal, Nomin Pal, Manisha Patwa, Kaanti Yadav and Lata Pune. He also gave them sweets for the Holi festival.

Baghel said the briefcase has become a subject for talk across the country. It is an original work and has brought due respect to the ‘Godhan’.

Nomin Pal said preparations were on to make paint out of cow dung. Apart from it, bricks too would be made from cow dung. Even a temple of ‘Chhattisgarh Mahtari’ (Mother Chhattisgarh) has been planned.

The Chief Minister assured them all assistance in their efforts.

The group had already sold 150 kg of ‘gulal’ made of cow dung.

The cow dung briefcase was made by ‘Ek Pahal’ women Self-Help Group under the Municipal Corporation Raipur. The cow dung, lime, 'maida' (all-purpose flour), wood and plant gum mixer were used. It took 10 days to ready it.
