Expressing his ire over the use of chemical paint in departmental constructions, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday underlined the need to use only natural paint manufactured with cow dung.
He said if any violation of the instructions is detected, strict action will be initiated against the officers.
Baghel asked state Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain to issue an official order to all the departments, corporations and local bodies in the state, an official communication said.
He said the use of paint made from cow dung will contribute towards the strengthening of rural economy and environmental protection.
Cow dung is being used to prepare natural paint by women self-help groups in Gauthans of Hirapur Jarwai near Raipur.
On November 21, 2021, a MoU was signed for transfer of technology to make natural paint from cow dung in Raipur.
The Chhattisgarh State Cow Service Commission, the Indian government and the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) signed the MoU.
In the first phase, a natural paint manufacturing unit was to be set up in 75 select Gauthans.
The production started in April 2022. The paint is available in half litre, one litre, four litre and 10 litre containers.
