Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday urged the Director of the Enforcement Directorate to order a probe into the multi-crore PDS scam and the chit fund scam which took place during the previous BJP regime.
In a six-page letter, he stated that there has been an exponential growth in the assets of then Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and his family members which needed to be investigated.
“In 2015, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raided the premises of officers in the Department of Food and Civil Supplies. It booked 28 people under the Prevention of Corruption Act for disproportionate properties and cash. But a court in Raipur gave a clean chit to 16 of the 28 alleged accused."
Quoting the documents, he stated there are entries such as 'CM Sir' and 'MD Sir' and these were suppressed.
He said that if the ED does not act in 15 days, a petition will be filed in the court.
Dr. Raman Singh asked the government to first make public the report prepared by the state police.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister through another letter raised the issue of chit fund frauds in the state whose value has been put at Rs 6,500 crore.
He said that if the agency fails to probe this, the government will move the court.
