CM Baghel says recruitment under process, oppn walks out

Bharatiya Janata Party members on Tuesday trooped out of the Chhattisgarh assembly over the employment issue even after Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that all the processes of recruitment were under progress.

On the second day of the budget session, the Leader of Opposition raised the question of recruitment of Class I, II, III and IV employees from January 2019 to January 31, 2022.

He sought to know the progress made by the committee under the Principal Secretary to consider the regularization demand of irregular, contract and daily wage staff.

BJP's Ajay Chandrakar, Shivratan Sharma and others pointed out that for the first time in the Assembly, the Governor’s address covered the election manifesto of any political party. So, the government must ensure its cent percent implementation.

Replying, the Chief Minister said the panel had given three recommendations. Based on the Supreme Court ruling, those who have completed 10 years of service have to be regularized. The legal advice has been sought from the Advocate General.

The list of irregular, contract and daily wage staff 33 departments have been received and others are awaited. The Covid-19 pandemic had affected the collection, he said.

He further said the Finance department has sanctioned 40,035 posts in all categories. Recruitment in 11,494 posts have been completed and process is underway for 28,541 posts.

With opposition sticking on differences of employment and government service, both benches created ruckus after which the opposition members walked out.
