Chief Minister Raman Singh has sanctioned Rs 5 lakh for facilitating solar-pump based drinking water supply facility in  Kesla village of Rajnandgaon district.

On request of villagers, Singh approved construction of cement-concrete roads in village Kesla and Sirrabhata. A delegation of villagers from Kesla village of Rajnandgaon district on Wednesday met Chief Minister at his official residence in Raipur.

It is noteworthy that Kesla village was mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 'Man Ki Baat' programme aired on Akashwani on July 26, officials stated. The CM praised residents of the village for their awareness towards cleanliness and hygiene, and congratulated Sarpanch  Champa Bai Komre and villagers of Kesla for their achievement.

Sarpanch Komre told the Chief Minister that last year, village Sangli (situated adjacent to village Kesla) was plagued by cholera because of the unclean surroundings.

Meanwhile, the 'Clean India Campaign was launched'. To save people of Kesla from such kind of epidemic, women of the village led by Sarpanch Komre decided to create awareness regarding importance of hygiene and to make Kesla- an open defecation free village.

Komre further said that there are 220 houses in the village and population is nearly 1100. In each house, toilets were constructed and the expenses were borne by villagers themselves. People here now use toilets and have given up the habit of open defecation.

She said that separate toilets have been constructed for girl and boy students of primary school and disabled children. Anybody found defecating in open is charged fine of `200.

The Chief Minister praised people of Kesla for their awareness about Cleanliness Campaign.
