Chief Minister Raman Singh has approved a sum of Rs 6 crore for establishment of a Medical College in the Ambikapur district headquarters in the tribal dominated Sarguja Revenue division.
The first supplementary budget for the financial year 2013-14 has made a provision of the amount approved by the Chief Minister for opening of the Medical College at Ambikapur, an official statement issued here on Sunday said.
The Medical College would be opened under Sarguja University, Ambikapur.
It may be mentioned that Allopathy medical colleges are being run by the Government currently in Raipur and the divisional headquarters of Bilaspur
and Jagdalpur.
The Medical Council of India (MCI) has also approved 50 seats for the first batch of the Government Medical College to be established at Raigarh
district headquarters.
