In a bid to keep a close eye on villagers and prevent them from spreading Covid-19, the Surguja district administration has divided Gram Panchayats into 53 clusters.
On the instructions of District Collector Sanjeev Kumar Jha, an in-charge has been appointed for every cluster so that the monitoring and surveillance of the Panchayats can be more centralized.
Official sources said the monitoring team will keep a complete record of home isolated persons in each cluster and will report daily to Janpads which will in turn report to the district control room.
Each cluster consists of 4-10 Gram Panchayats. Eight villages fall under Ambikapur and Mainpat Janpad Panchayat, seven each in Udaipur and Sitapur, 10 in Lundra, nine in Lakhanpur and four in Batauli.
