The total number of Covid-19 positive cases in Chhattisgarh neared 40,000 as 1,688 fresh cases were detected on Friday.
Also, 19 deaths of Covid-19 positive patients were reported, taking the total fatalities to 334, the Health Department’s daily report said.
The deaths due to Covid-19 include the Nayab-Tahsildar of Kasdol in Baloda Bazar district. The officer was detected Covid positive in the recent past and died on Friday, a press release said.
The officers of the state administrative service paid homage to the deceased.
Governor Anusiya Uike has proceeded on home quarantine till September 15, a press release from the Raj Bhawan said.
“I have isolated myself as a precaution as recently I came in contact with few Covid positive individuals. For any urgent work one can use the email of Raj Bhawan,” the Governor was quoted as saying in the statement.
Of the fresh 1,688 cases, 567 were from Raipur, currently the hotspot of Covid infection in Chhattisgarh.
So far, 39,723 people have been found Covid positive in Chhattisgarh while 19,608 have been discharged upon recovery. Currently there are 19,781 active Covid cases in the state.
