Class X Board exam axed; Class XII's postponed

The Chhattisgarh State Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) on Thursday cancelled the Class X exam set from April 15 to May 1 and also postponed the Class XII exam due in May due to a raging Covid-19.

The decision was taken in view of the rapid spread of Covid, an official press release said. According to the CGBSE, marks will be given to Class X students based on the assignments completed by them.

Students who did not complete the assignments or did not obtain the minimum passing marks in them will be given just "passing marks" by the Board, it said.

If a student is dissatisfied with the marks, he or she can appear in a grade correction examination to be held by the Board after the epidemic is controlled.

Last month, the Chhattisgarh government closed all state-run, central and private schools and said it will promote students of all classes barring Class X and XII without examining them.

On Wednesday, 14,519 people were detected Covid-19 positive in the state and 183 patients died.
