The City District Congress Committee held a meeting to discuss on strategy to make the Congress candidates victorious. While giving tips for victory, State general secretary Iqbal Ahmed Rizvi said that organisation like RSS was trying to woo the party workers by making vicious propaganda. Hence “we need to be cautious”, he said.
In the meeting, organised at the Congress Bhawan, candidate from Raipur North Kuldip Juneja, Raipur West candidate Vikas Upadhyay and Raipur South candidate Mayor Dr Kiranmayi Nayak and Raipur rural candidate and former minister Satyanarayan Sharma were present.
The Mayor said that during the last four years, development works costing about Rs 15 crore has been done through the Municipal Corporation. She said, the preparations she had made for all the four assembly constituencies, would be given to the candidates, so that it could be used during the election campaign.
Former city president Indarchand Dhadiwal said that during the last 10 years he had tried to give direction to the organisation and several programme had been conducted. Youth participation in the organisation has been increased. All should be rightly used so that victory of candidates could be confirmed. State general secretary Rizvi has appealed to be cautious against the powers that were making vicious propaganda.
State Congress spokesperson Ghanshyam Raju Tiwari said that committees have been formed at booth level. Ten youths are ready with girded loins at each booth. All the ward chairmen will make efforts to give lead from their respective wards, he added.
Candidates Kuldip Juneja and Vikas Upadhyay also expressed their views. General secretary Abdul Hamid Hayat and other leaders also addressed the meeting.
The meeting was conducted by Shivsingh Thakur, in which all the ward chairmen, district office-bearers and other leaders were present.
Sarv Brahman Samaj demands ticket from Raipur West
State president of Sarv Brahman Samaj lalit Mishra advocated for Congress ticket to corporator Pramod Dubey from Raipur West Assembly constituency. According to him, such a candidate has been fielded from the area, who ever did fight election even for the post of corporator.
In a press conference, he said that it was the right of Ravindra Chaubey to get ticket from Chhattisgarh Brahman Samaj. His family members have been representing from Saja area from the beginning. However, the BJP has made aged leader Badridhar Diwan candidate from Belthara. He represented the area thrice. He said that youth leader Pramod Dubey of the community had claimed ticket from Raipur West constituency, but was ignored.
When he was asked about builder Sanjay Bajpai, Mishra said that the community had been with him and would remain with him. He said that Sanjay Bajpai would be honoured, when he will be released from the jail.
