Citizens' panel seeks police administration improvement

The Chhattisgarh Nagrik Sangharsh Samiti, in a memorandum submitted to the director general of police Ramniwas, on Tuesday demanded from him to improve police administration in the city. The Samiti asked him to make the mobile number of the employees deployed on the patrolling and PCR vehicle public.

In the memorandum, the president of the Samiti Vishwajeet Mishra said that recently some anti-social elements had misbehaved and scuffled with a woman member of Saxena family, resident of DD Nagar Sector-4. After the incident, when the victim woman reached the police station, she did not get immediate help and even her report was registered very late.

With this incident, a question mark was put on the Raipur policing. It is said in the memo that by flouting the instructions issued by the Supreme Court, in place of registering criminal cases, the police stations are taking them as complaints. In most of the cases, the officers and employees of corrupt mentality posted in the police stations are behind making criminal cases as complaints. This benefits the criminals and because of which crimes are increasing in the state capital. The morale of criminals and anti-social elements is boosted because of their political approach.

Mishra said that the important point was that until the senior officers would not promote crime registration, the number of crimes and criminals would increase.

If the crime registration were made open, change would definitely come in the mentality of criminals, because of the fear of the police and the court. Then crime rate would show a decreasing trend. Through the memorandum, demand was made to appoint station house officers in police stations and to link the police stations with internet.
