The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has submitted the ‘Economic Agenda of Chhattisgarh’ to Chief Minister Raman Singh for inclusion in BJP’s manifesto for upcoming Assembly polls in the State.

CII had prepared an 'Economic Agenda of Chhattisgarh' to help the government to lay out a high level view on some of the key opportunities for the State government to get the economic momentum to full swing . A delegation of a group of industrial bodies led by CII's Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Council Manish Gupta met the Chief Minister at his residence last evening while also thanking him for bringing down the power surcharge for small industrial units from 20 per cent to 6 per cent.

It may be recalled here that  the Chief Minister during his September 24 Cabinet meeting had announced to reduce the power surcharge  particularly for Steel units , Ferro alloys, Rice mills, Dal mills, Poultry farms and Argo based units.   In July 2013, the power surcharge for the small units was hiked from 8 per cent to 20 per cent.

Considering the economic downturn, the Chief Minister in the last Cabinet meeting had decided to bring down the power surcharge for the small units from 20 per cent to 6 per cent. Manish Gupta, Chairman, CII Chhattisgarh State Council , on the occasion, also handed over, a report on ‘Investment Climate in Chhattisgarh’ to the Chief Minister. The objective of the report is to showcase the State to domestic and international Investors. CII also submitted a representation on the recently released CSR Policy 2013 notification by the State Government.
