It has been observed that children listen to teachers more attentively than parents. It is of vital importance that the teacher understands the psyche of the child and play a crucial role in building total personality, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Child Rights’ Protection Commission Shatabdi Subodh Pande said on Friday.
She said that teachers played a crucial role in the all-round development of the child’s personality. She was speaking at the workshop on ‘better understanding of child rights and new perspective’ at the new circuit house here. The workshop was organised by the Chhattisgarh State child rights’ protection commission. Pande said that law should be implemented strictly in case of crimes related to children but the ultimate goal should be to make society devoid of crime.
State legal services authority Member Secretary Rajneesh Srivastava said the environment in the school should be free from fear so that children can complain about any crime to the authority. He said that to bring down the crimes related to children, these should be brought to light. Special courts are functioning in all the districts to deal with the cases related to child abuse. Curtain divides the child and the accused in the hearing area so that the victim is free to speak. The teachers should treat the school children as their own, Srivastava said.
Representative of child rights institution (New Delhi) Shahbaaz Khan and Chandrasuman and State Representative of UNICEF Prashant Das gave an insight into child rights. Member of State Child Rights’ Protection Commission Dr Simi Srivastava, Uma Bharati Saraf, Ramesh Rajput, Sharad Srivastava, Premchand Deshmukh and Pradeep Deshmukh and officers of the education department were present at the workshop.
