Even though Chhattisgarhi has been declared as official language in the State long back, the State Government is still to take concrete steps for its expansion and preservation.
“In order to preserve and promote the language, the Government should make a provision of its teaching in schools across Chhattisgarh,” said Nandkishore Shukla, Regional Convener of Chhattisgrahi Rajbhasha Manch.
Interacting with media at the Raipur Press Club, Shukla said that extinction of a language eventually results in disappearance of culture and specific communities linked with the language.
Chhattisgrahi is struggling for its survival and if necessary action is not taken to preserve it, the language is going to lose its existence in future. In the interest of Chhattisgrahi language, the Government should ensure teaching of the language in schools (from class Ist to class Vth).
Responding to queries of media on resources required for teaching Chhattisgrahi in schools, Shukla replied that required teaching resources are available in the State.
The grammar for Chhattisgrahi language was formed very long back.
From the last several years, the Manch is struggling for popularising Chhattisgrahi language which resulted in commencement of announcement in the language at the Railway station, the language being used by telecom companies, getting space in local dailies, Akashwani and others, said Shukla, elaborating that now the State government is also floating advertisements in Chhattisgrahi language.
“The State Government should chalk out some strict guidelines regarding teaching of Chhattisgrahi in schools and once they are made, the schools operating across the State will be bound to follow it,” said Amit Baghel, State Chief of Chhattisgarhiya Kranti Sena.
Meanwhile, Baghel also cautioned that Chhattisgarhiya Kranti Sena is going to launch a campaign for teaching of Chhattisgrahi in schools. The campaign should not be a formality, he said.
