Chhattisgarh to step up Covid-19 screening drive

With a spike in the     number of Covid-19 positive cases in Chhattisgarh, Health and Family Welfare Minister T. S. Singh Deo has directed that more and more people should face the       coronavirus test.

At a meeting held at the Covid-19 State Control and Command Centre on Monday, the Minister told officials to expedite the work to establish coronavirus testing laboratories at Bilaspur, Ambikapur and Rajnandgaon Medical Colleges.

This will help to test more samples, he said.

The Minister ruled that migrant workers testing positive for Covid-19 should be immediately provided treatment.

For better results, he wanted officials to hold comprehensive tests in coordination with the local administration at the quarantine centres at village levels where migrant workers are kept. In addition, the surveillance has to be heightened in all the districts of state.

Health Department Secretary Niharika Barik Singh, Health Commissioner Bhuvnesh Yadav and other senior officials were present.
